Universidad Europea, together with the Orthopedic Surgery service of Hospital Universitario Quirónsalud Madrid and Acumed, worked on organizing the course entitled Surgical Techniques in Traumatic Elbow and Shoulder Pathologies. The course, opened by Dr María Teresa Lara, Assistant Dean of the Universidad Europea School of Biomedical Sciences and Health, welcomed the presence of orthopedic doctors specialized in surgery on these joints.
During the session, overseen by Dr. José Tabuenca, Head of the Orthopedic Surgery service at Hospital Universitario Quirónsalud Madrid, participants were able to practice and test their knowledge and the most effective techniques in dealing with elbow and wrist injuries.
For organizer Dr Tabuenca, the course provided a first-hand understanding of the importance of elbow and wrist surgery treatments, as well as other joints. Tabuenca pointed out the importance of “the elbow and wrist as the most complex joints in the skeleton.” He also stressed that “injuring them can not only affect bones and ligaments, but poor treatment can enormously affect the quality of life of the patient, which is why it is important to properly train the orthopedic doctors who treat these patients.”
