Sports Management students trip to Vitoria

They learned a lot from the Baskonia and Deportivo Alavés teams

The students of the Master in Sports Management of the Real Madrid Graduate School – Universidad Europea traveled to Victoria last week to visit the sports facilities of the Baskonia basketball team and Alavés Football Club.

The first day they visited the Buesa Arena, a pavilion used by the Baskonia team to play their official matches. There they met with Mikel Bárcena, the Sales and Marketing director of the club. Juan Cantero and Daniel Prat, both former students of the school, were there as the ticketing and operation manager representatives.

Students also met with a representative from the Foundation 5+11, a non-lucrative organisation that collaborates with the Baskonia Club and that encourages healthy habits among children in the region, through sports like football, basketball and other activities. Furthermore, they went to Bakh, the sports city of the Baskonia team, where they enjoyed a guided visit and where they meet the representatives of the sponsorship and communication and design departments.

The future professionals also attended a Baskonia match against the EA7 Milano team, that they highly enjoyed.

On the second day of the trip, they went to Mendizorrotza, the stadium of the Alavés Football Club, and after a guided visit, a representative for Performance of the football club, together with Mikel Bárcena, explained to the students the key aspects of the club such as: management, organisation and “how to go back to the elite”, due to their efforts across the years to be a first league team after playing in the second division for a few years. They ended their trip with a visit to the sports city of the Ibaia club, where they played a match.

The students of the Sports Management Degree at the Real Madrid Graduate School – Universidad Europea enjoyed two days full of experiences and activities that helped to improve their knowledge and learn first hand  some of the most important national teams.
