The Qualifying Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering is especially designed for graduates in some of the Telecommunications specialties or for Technical Telecommunications Engineers who wish to qualify in order to exercise professionally as Telecommunications Engineers without ceasing their professional employment.

Access Requirements

In order to access the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, it is necessary that the candidate fulfil the legal requirements in accordance with R.D. 861/2010 and Ministerial Order CIN 355/2009. Specifically, the requirements are:

  • To hold a qualifying degree to enter the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer.  
  • To hold a degree as Technical Telecommunications Engineer in any of its specialties, having established any additional complementary training needed.  
  • To hold a degree in the area of Telecommunications without professional qualifications, i.e. those whose syllabus covers the blocks of 60 ECTS credits of basic skills of the branch and 48 ECTS credits of skills of various specialties.

Facilities

In Madrid we have two campuses (Villaviciosa de Odón and Alcobendas), another campus in Valencia and another one in the Canary Islands. In total, we have 25 hectares with the best facilities: 3 university clinics, laboratories for all the scientific degrees, multimedia language center, sports complexes and student halls of residence.

In addition, there are work spaces available, tutorial classrooms and areas for group work in all our buildings, as well as within the library, that are available to students and teachers.

In the case of students on the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, they will have available to them computer labs with mathematical software and simulation software, as well as the laboratories with electronic equipment to complete practical exercises.

Upon completion of the program, the student will be awarded the official Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, issued by Universidad Europea de Madrid.

Faculty

The teaching faculty on the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering is made up of both professionals working in leading companies in the sector as well as doctors at Universidad Europea with professional links to the business and research world.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Dr. Silvia Abad Valtierra
Director of the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering. Doctor in Telecommunications Engineering. 20 years’ teaching and research experience, is currently a professor at Universidad Europea and manager of international research and development projects at HBM FiberSensing, the advanced optic instrumentation branch of the German multinational for instrumentation and measurement. Her research field centers around Optic Communications and Fiber Optic Sensors.  

TEACHING STAFF

Dr. Carlos Blanco Vázquez.
Doctor in Telecommunications Engineering, Graduate in Physics and MBA, Universidad de Fontainebleau. With a far-ranging career of over 45 years in the Telecommunications sector, he has held various positions as Director of Engineering, Director of Research and Development and Director of marketing of ITT. Is the lead professor at Universidad Europea de Madrid.

Dr. Juan Antonio Piñuela Izquierdo.
Doctor in Telecommunications Engineering and of the doctoral program «Communications Technology and Systems» of the Department of Signals, Systems and Radiocommunications at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Currently, professor of Universidad Europea de Madrid, combining his work with management activities, pre-sale and analysis-programming of different projects, for companies involved in the development of multiplatform solutions.

Dr. Alberto Brunete.
Doctor in Telecommunications Engineering, is currently professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, researcher in the Center for Automation and Robotics, UPM-CSIC, and collaborating professor on the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering at Universidad Europea. Is also an adviser to the Spanish Alzheimer’s Foundation on matters relating to home automation assistance. As a result of this collaboration, has been awarded the ABC Solidarity Prize in 2013 together with one of his students. In the business field, has worked for Comverse (Systems Engineer), AtelMedia (Head of Digital Home) and AMETIC (Research and Development Consultant).

Dr. Victor Manuel Padrón.
Doctor in Industrial Engineering. Specialist in movement and assembly planning for climbing robots and advanced construction systems. Wide range of experience as a designer of circuits, electronic systems as well as IT systems. Visiting professor, École Centrale d’Electronique ECE (Paris) and at the University of Ulster.

Ángel Carlos Tabuyo Palomar.
Telecommunications Engineer. Head of Engineering and Innovation at VisualCounter and collaborating professor at Universidad Europea de Madrid. Commenced his professional career as a research and development and investment engineer and, after many years, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to found his own company, dedicated to projects in Electronic Engineering and technological consulting services. Currently he directs projects in technological areas such as ‘Artificial Intelligence’, traceability systems and localization based on RFID/RTLS technology,  Telecontrol ‘M2M’ and systems of ‘Business Intelligence’.

Santiago Torres Alegre.
Telecommunications Engineer. 14 years’ experience at Vodafone Spain and currently associate professor at Universidad Europea de Madrid. Also collaborates regularly as a consultant with telecommunications companies.

Alberto López González.
Telecommunications Engineer. Head of New Business Development in New Payment Methods at MasterCard and collaborating professor at Universidad Europea de Madrid. Previously worked for 5 years as head of business development in Financial Services and M2M solutions at Telefónica.

Alejandro Maroto.
Graduate in Economics and MBA, Instituto de Empresa, his technical-scientific trajectory has been centered around the practical application of telecommunications in the business world. He has combined his teaching and research work for over 12 years with his experience at Telefónica, as well as numerous entrepreneurial experiences in companies related to innovative services (mobile internet, cloud, mobile advertising…). Currently works as Global Business Channel Manager at Palo Alto Networks.

José María Pindado.
Telecommunications Engineer, UPM with over 15 years’ experience in the telecommunications sector. Currently works as an Application Engineer at Anritsu, having previously worked at several companies in the field of RF technology and networking and transmission technologies (IP routing & switching, Ethernet, TDM). Has led highly regarded projects for the design and implementation of access networks and radio transmission.

1. Documentation

To begin your admission process, the first thing to do is book your appointment online or by calling 91 740 72 72.

When will you know you’ve been accepted?

3. Reserve your place

Along with the admissions letter, you will receive an envelope with information about official registration. It is recommended that in order to reserve your place, you should respond within 7 days of receiving the letter.

4. Registration

All students joining the Universidad Europea for the first time, wanting to study a degree, must open a file with the university, prior to registration. The Department of Admission for New Students will provide the candidate with all the documentation and forms to complete their registration.

Convalidations and transfers

You don’t have to carry on doing something you don’t want to. For this reason, we have designed specific convalidation and university transfer plan. If you want to know your personalized plan, as quickly and easily as possible, send us an email to convalidaciones@universidadeuropea.es along with the following documentation:

  • Personal academic certificate of the original degree.
  • Study plan sealed by the Secretariat of the center of origin.
  • The academic program of the subjects studied and/or enrolled in the original degree.
  • Officially translated degree certificate (only in the case of foreign graduates)

In case of requesting recognition for professional experience, you will be required to provide;

  • Work life certificate
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Company certificate, only in those cases where it is necessary to prove the functions performed in the company, or in cases of students with international professional experience who cannot provide a work-life certificate.

Professional practices

Internships in companies are a key element in your education. Acquiring experience and putting into practice what you have learned on your degree is the best way to enter the labor market. There are two types of internship, curricular (which are included as part of your program) and extracurricular (which you can do on a voluntary basis).

In order to carry out an internship in a company, you’ll need to have passed 50% of your credits and register before you start the internship. Both the company and a professor on your course will monitor your progress on the internship as well as providing an evaluation at the half way mark and upon completion. 

If you want to gain extra work experience before finalizing your university studies, you are welcome to carry out extracurricular internships. You can carry them out in whichever year of your studies you choose but we remind you that internships are formative and should complement your studies. The more theoretical knowledge you have acquired throughout your degree, the more you will benefit from the internships.
