At the end of October, the Nursing Department of the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences welcomed Professor Roger Watson, who gave an informative lecture and led working sessions with students, professors and professionals of the Universidad Europea and people from outside the university.
Dr. Watson, a professor at the University of Hull (UK) and Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Sydney (Australia), visited the nursing facilities and gave an informative session on the process of publishing articles on nursing in scientific journals. Dr. Watson is Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Advanced Nursing (JAN), one of the most prestigious academic publications on nursing in the world.
Thanks to Dr. Watson’s visit to the Universidad Europea, Nursing teaching staff were able to analyze the difficulties which arise when publishing in high-impact journals and to discuss possible strategies. Dr. Watson’s lecture, ‘From results to publication’, described the steps authors should follow when contributing useful knowledge on healthcare and nursing. The guest lecture concluded with a discussion of the scientific publication process in relation to current technological developments.
