On Saturday, July 2 Universidad Europea de Canarias celebrated the Commencement Ceremony for the class of 2015-2016 at the Puerto de la Cruz Conference Center, attended by more than 500 people including students of bachelor's, master's and postgraduate programs and certificate courses, as well as family members, friends and University faculty.

The ceremony, presided over by Universidad Europea de Canarias Rector Cristiana Oliveira, featured Class Sponsor Amid Achi, a businessman and President of Grupo Nº 1, who reminded the students that “with effort and perseverance you can reach your goals” and added that although “the future is fraught with difficulties, do not be discouraged but rather learn from them.

Prior to Amid Achi’s speech, Universidad Europea President and Laureate International Universities CEO Miguel Carmelo told students they were the people “who would be called the ‘leaders of tomorrow’” because “you have been in the best hands, are fully aware of the demands of the job market and have been educated to enter it with guarantees.”

Before the awarding of grants to students, special mentions were given to teachers, and prizes were handed out to the student with the best academic record, the most international student and the student with the best participation. The most emotional moment of the ceremony was the awarding of grants and badges of honor to nearly 100 alumni.
