B Corporation® has granted Universidad Europea the B Corp® certificate, which accredits the institution as a corporation with a high level of social and environmental commitment, transparency and corporate responsibility, recognizing its commitment to inclusion and diversity in the university sector. With this recognition, the Universidad Europea is now part of a community of 2,300 certified companies worldwide that are the flag bearers for this movement that works to turn businesses into key agents for social change.
To achieve this, the Universidad Europea was subject to a rigorous assessment process conducted by the independent, non-profit organization B Lab®, founder of the global movement that works to turn businesses into key agents for social change. The areas analyzed according to B Lab® standards are those related to social and environmental performance, as well as accountability and transparency. According to Conrado Briceño, President of the Universidad Europea, “this certificate is a step forward in our commitment to constant innovation, it allows us to maximize the impact generated by our daily work aimed at training our students.”
For the Universidad Europea this social and economic impact milestone coincides with the renewal of the B Corp® certificate for Laureate Education, international network of higher education institutions of which it is a member, making it the largest B Corp® multinational in the world, the first to gain certification for all its member institutions and the first in achieving the B Lab® Addendum for Higher Education certificate, designed for higher education institutions and focused on the impact the institution has on its students.
