The winners will receive the awards from H.R.H. the Prince of Asturias and Girona during the course of the Prince of Girona Foundation prize-giving ceremony held in Girona at the end of June.
For the purpose of fostering activity and effort, the Prince of Girona Foundation Awards promote research and creativity, solidarity and the development of talent among young people who are concerned about building a fairer world in a globalized setting. In this way the FPdGi Awards serve to acknowledge projects and initiatives developed by young entrepreneurs who are willing to assume risks and wish to bring about changes in society.
The Prince of Girona Foundation Awards consist of four individual awards –for young people between 16 and 35 years of age– and one for companies. The latter, the Prince of Girona Foundation Company Award, acknowledges the track record of entrepreneurial institutions that work in favor of youth. In the individual categories, the Prince of Girona Foundation Social Award distinguishes young people who, due to their personal qualities of leadership, have earned success in creating and promoting integration projects for excluded groups or groups at risk of exclusion, either based on the initiative of social or business entities; the Prince of Girona Foundation Scientific Research Award acknowledges scientific experiences or projects including those which deal with human and social sciences, that offer high potential for future development; the Prince of Girona Foundation Arts and Humanities Award distinguishes young people with talent and promising work in any discipline of arts and humanities which serves to inspire other young people; lastly, the Prince of Girona Foundation Business Award acknowledges young people with entrepreneurial initiative who have led or are promoting original, feasible business projects.
Each award amounts to €10,000 and a copy of a work by the Spanish sculptor Juan Muñoz. Candidates opting for the individual categories should be aged between 16 and 35. The Prince of Girona Foundation Awards have a jury for each category formed by members of the Advisory Committee of the Foundation, who are external experts in the topic being evaluated or have won awards during previous editions.
