Campus de Alcobendas Universidad Europea (Calle Fernando Alonso s/n)
Universidad Europea will take part, as in previous years, in Business Solidarity Day, a project aimed at promoting and fostering the social participation of companies via corporate volunteering. Business Solidarity Day, organized by Cooperación Internacional and Atresmedia, will take place on October 20 in several Spanish cities with a large number of volunteers helping out, among them 50 professors, employees, students and alumni from the Madrid, Valencia and Canary Islands campuses.
Every year, several of non-profit organizations come together at this great social event so that they can open their doors to volunteers from companies wishing to help out with various groups at risk of social exclusion such as people with functional diversity, homeless persons, sick children or those in the inclusion process. The day will be packed with a wide variety of solidarity-based experiences and activities – repair of equipment, recreational games, talks, cooking workshops, etc. – which will be headed up by volunteers together with participating organizations. A total of 10 volunteers per project will be invited to form part of a volunteer team comprising students, professors and alumni.
Volunteers from the Universidad Europea de Canarias Campus will visit the El Sauzal district and will accompany and entertain youngsters with learning difficulties from the “Cortijo José de Nazaret” home, part of the Congregación Fraternidad de la Divina Providencia [Congregation of the Divine Providence Fraternity]. Additionally, there will be three projects for the Madrid campus: anindoor soccer and basketball game with young people with intellectual disabilities together with the Feddig2008 Foundation, which participates in FEMADDI, an excursion around Alcobendas with people with disabilities with APAMA , and a hiking activity with people with disabilities in Majadahonda. Finally, the participants at the Valencia Campus, together with the Fundació Espurna will take a guided tour accompanying people with intellectual disabilities at the L'Oceanogràfic oceanarium and will enjoy the different spaces of the park and the dolphin show together.
