    This Master’s Degree is specially designed for professionals who need to combine work and study, allowing students the freedom to choose online or campus-based courses, as well as the amount of time they will devote to their studies each week, program duration, and enrollment dates.

    In recent years, sport has become a discipline that has expanded beyond its previously defined boundaries, thus increasing the need for specialized professionals in the various areas associated with the world of sport and sports organizations. The MBA - Master’s Degree in Sports Management is taught 100% in English and provides specific training in the field of sports management.

    This MBA primarily consists of ten modules on company management, followed by a crossdisciplinary module on management skills.

    The program contains a segment that specializes in sports and focuses on marketing, management and the operation of sports facilities.

    The international nature of this program will enable students and sports managers to obtain the broadest possible perspective on all existing sports management models, not only in Spain but also beyond our borders, thanks to the participation of a top-class international faculty.     On completing the Master's Degree, students will receive the official title of Master Universitario MBA en Dirección de Entidades Deportivas from Universidad Europea de Madrid.

    To be accepted onto the Master's degree, students must have an official degree issued by a Spanish institute or a higher education institute in the European Higher Education Area, which allows access to Master's programmes in the country of issuance.

    A holder of a degree from outside the EHEA system may also be accepted, without the need for official recognition of his or her degree, after the university has verified that such qualification accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the corresponding official Spanish degree and that it allows the holder to access postgraduate education in the country of issuance.

    The recommended applicant profile is that of holders of degrees in physical activity and sport sciences (particularly those focussed on sports management) and degrees in fields related to business or international management.

    The Master's degree aims to train management cadres in the sports world. It is particularly geared towards graduates who want to have a career in sports management. It is also geared towards professionals in the sector who want to update their knowledge, professionals in other sectors who want to cross over into the sports world, and towards professional athletes who aspire to continue their activity in the sports area as managers.

    UNIVERSIDAD EUROPEA DE MADRID QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM (SGIC)

    The Universidad Europea de Madrid has designed its Internal Quality Assurance System according to the directives of Spain's National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA), as a structural basis to ensure the quality of the new accredited degrees, in line with the quality directives of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and Organic Law 4/2007, of 12 April, amending Organic Law 6/2001, of 21 December, on Universities.

    Quality Assurance System (SGIC)

    Quality Committee of the School of Social Sciences and Communication

    The committee is formed by the academic director and members of the Faculty Board (department directors, area director, director of Student Support Services and the dean). The committee will meet once every two weeks.

    -       The main aim of the academic director is to foster the culture of quality and to continuously improve the faculty by identifying improvement plans. Main duties of include:

     Controlling and improving the quality of the faculty

      • Establishing and implementing transversal quality criteria.
      • Maintaining and improving the quality and management system through faculty processes.
      • Leading, together with the Vice-Rector of Quality, the data collection process and the processing of information that is essential for the appropriate faculty management.
      • Leading the implementation process of the degree improvement plan and ensuring that the objectives set are consistent with those established by the CGC.
      • Leading the faculty's attainment of national and international honours, certifications and accreditations.

    -       The main aim of the director of Student Support Services is to guarantee the satisfaction of our students beyond the classroom, providing them with high-quality information and administration services that meet their needs and expectations, while continuously seeking to improve the student experience. Main duties of include:

    Processes and services

    ·         Establishing information and administrative services that must be made available to our students, as well as the processes associated with said services.

    ·         Including all university departments in processes to ensure that services are appropriately provided to our students.

    -       Postgraduate Quality Committee: In the specific case of the postgraduate programme, there is a Postgraduate Quality Committee, which comprises the director of the Master's programme, director of postgraduate programmes and the academic coordinator of postgraduate programmes. It meets every trimester and at the beginning and end of every academic year. At the meetings, general coordination matters relating to the academic calendar, areas for improvement -taking into consideration quality outcomes- teaching staff, process updates, assessment system reviews, stays abroad on programmes that require them and the status of the professional placements of students are addressed.

    Since this degree began, the people involved in it have put a lot of effort into implementing various corrective measures and improvement plans:

    -          Master’s thesis

    o    Changes regarding tutors of the master thesis, including doctors with real experience in projects closely linked to the university.

    o    Regular meetings with dissertation tutors.

    o    A minimum of 5 meetings between students and tutors in which the work to submit is clearly set out.

    o    Introduction sessions of the Master's dissertation starts in November.

    o    One report per group is to be sent to the director of the Master's programme after each tutor meeting

    -          Contents coordination between modules

    o    Planning of a greater teaching load on fewer lecturers per module.

    o    Prior organisation by the director of the module contents according to the teaching guides.

    o    A meeting with all lecturers involved in the module to establish a methodological strategy before the module starts.

    o    Coordination and definition of contents, activities and assessment in the aforementioned private meetings with lecturers.

    o    Review of presentations and teaching material by the director of the programme.

    o    Lecturer follow-up and feedback after teaching the module.

    -          External placements

    o    Formalising new collaboration agreements in areas highly sought after by students, such as professional football clubs.

    o    Searching for new international partners.

    o    Selecting students for placements using clear, established, objective and transparent procedures and criteria. Emphasising the importance of grades in the subjects studied.

    o    Setting up interviews with collaborating companies to find out details of the position.

    o    Establishing agreements between the university tutor and the company tutor regarding the tasks and actions that students are to undertake.

    Main performance and satisfaction rates relating to the degree:

    The performance, success and assessment rates are very high on this programme. The performance rate is 97.7%, while both the success rate and assessment rate offer extremely good data, exceeding 99.2% and 98.3%, respectively.

    As regards the graduation rate, we can see that it has fluctuated, depending on the academic year, between 66% in the first year the official degree was taught and 72% in the last, with closed data (2014/15). Around 7/10 students who started the programme graduated at the end of the Master's degree.

    The programme's drop-out rate was 32% at the beginning, although that fell gradually and was down to 6% in the last academic year.

    As regards graduate employment (12 months after finishing the programme) 80% of the Master's degree students surveyed (n=10) were in work. More specifically, 70% work in a new job and the remaining 10% had set up their own company. Furthermore, that alumni found their job in less than 6 months, primarily in the field of knowledge they had studied (70%).

    In general, the survey indicates that the satisfaction rate of the Master's degree stands at an average of 3.25/5.

    • The Universidad Europea de Madrid Entrepreneurs Club, which helps to bring students and graduate entrepreneurs together by holding meetings and networking events focused on offering help and guidance for developing new business ideas.

    Internship application procedure:

    1. Students must ensure they are enrolled in the internship course. Once they are enrolled in the course, they will be assigned an internship advisor who will supervise them during their time in the company.
    2. They must attend the meetings where they will be given information about the internships and introduced to their internship adviser.
    3. They must attend the mandatory professional orientation sessions at the GOE, where they will be given information on creating a winning resume and dealing with selection processes.  These meetings will be coordinated by the course coordinator.
    4. They must register in the University's platform for internships and employment: http://uem.trabajando.es/loginpage-uem.

    NOTE: Students who prefer to choose their own internships must follow these steps: a) Contact the internship adviser to confirm whether the internship meets the educational goals of your course. b) If this is confirmed, the adviser will contact the company to agree on the details and provide contact information to the GOE so that the department can process the necessary documentation.

    WE FOSTER RESEARCH

    The Graduate School enhances students' research skills with the Certificate Course final projects.

    A maximum of 200 new admission places are offered, spread out over the four available study modes (campus-based in Spanish and English and 100% online in Spanish and English)

    - Accreditation of work and professional experience recognised as credits obtained:

    To aid student mobility both inside and outside national territory, the university will evaluate, pursuant to its internal regulations and current legislation, which is available on its website, credits that may be transferred and recognised on verification of the student's record and official academic documents that correspond to the official studies undertaken.

    Pursuant to current regulations, private university degrees and accredited work and professional experience may also be recognised in the form of credits and will be calculated for the purpose of obtaining an official degree, providing that said experience corresponds to the inherent skills of said degree, accounting for a maximum of 15% of the credits that make up the curriculum. Under no circumstance will Master's dissertations be recognised.
