Certificates and Degrees request

Types of certificates:

Requests for Degree Certificates from the Office of the Registrar
To request them you should be up to date with all payments. If not, you will not be able to request them.

Certificates bearing a cost can be paid online. If you have any problem with the system send an email to 010@universidadeuropea.es or go to the Student Affairs department in the Villaviciosa de Odón or La Moraleja Campuses.

The documents will be signed electonically and sent by email to the address you gave when making the request.

Types of certificates:

  • Personal Academic Certificate (PAC)

The Personal Academic Certificate certifies the grades of a student studying a degree program. The Personal Academic Certificate includes the following details: name, surname, degree, year of study, average grade, course grades and credits studied. It is issued within two business days from the day on which you requested it. It costs 30 euros.

  • General Certificate

The General Certificate includes the following details: name, surname, degree program and year in reference to your current enrollment situation at the time of requesting it. It is issued within two business days from the day on which you requested it. It is free.

  • Specific Certificate

The Specific Certificate document may accredit additional academic information to what is recorded in other certificates. It is issued within 3/4 business days from the day on which it is requested. It costs 30 euros.

  • Temporary Degree Certificate

The Temporary Degree Certificate replaces the degree certificate during the term of approximately two years in which the student has no accredited degree. It is issued within two business days from the day on which you requested it. For it to be issued you should have first requested the degree. It is the only document in paper format as all the other certificates are issued online and have a digital signature. It costs 30 euros.

  • Entrance Exam Certificate for students over the age of 25

The Entrance Exam Certificate certifies the grades obtained by the student in the exam. It is issued within two business days of the day on which it is requested. It costs 30 euros.

  • Accredited degree fees

Before requesting an accredited degree you should verify that your transcript has the indication "studies completed". You can request it the day after the official reports delivery date. The fees are issued within two business days from the date on which they are requested. They amount to 130 euros. Subsequently, within a term of approximately one year you will receive a notification allowing you to collect your official university degree. During that time, payment of the fees accredits that degree program or you can request the temporary degree certificate.

  • Sending the Accredited Degree (Spain/other countries)

Once the Office of the Registrar has informed you that your degree is available for collection, you can ask for it to be sent to a government delegation or sub-delegation of an autonomous region in Spain or to a Spanish embassy or consulate in another country. To do this you should pay a fee of 25 euros (for sending to Spain) or 100 euros (for sending abroad) and give the name of the organization to which we should send it in the “comments” box.

  • Enrollment Confirmation document

This document shows the coursework for which you are enrolled during the current academic year. It is issued within two business days from the day on which you requested it. It bears no cost.

  • Curriculum

This document shows the subjects included in the degree for which the student is enrolled. It is issued within two business days from the day on which you requested it. It bears no cost.

  • Student Insurance

The purpose of the Student Insurance is to protect the student against adverse, fortuitous and foreseen events. This protection is granted for students who have taken out the insurance if any of the covered risks occurs and provided the necessary prerequisites are met. Prerequisites to be met in order to benefit from the student insurance

    • Being under the age of 28, although the student insurance will cover the entire year of study in which the student reaches that age.
    • Be a Spanish citizen or a foreigh citizen with legal residence in Spain.
    • Having paid the student insurance fee (which the UEM pays following your enrollment)
    • Proving that at least one year has passed since the student enrolled for the first time in any educational center among those included in the insurance. This is not required for services provided as a result of an accident in the place of study, a family catastrophe due to the death of the head of the family and in gynecology. In addition, students studying lower secondary education, special education or who have continued their studies abroad during the previous year are exempt from this prerequisite.
  • Programs

Although most of these are posted in the UEM website (in the information about each degree program), if you require seal-certified programs or curricula, you can request them in the same way as other certificates. Issuing the full course curricula of a degree program costs 25 euros. Only recognized course programs and courses for which the student is enrolled and has passed on the date of making the request will be issued.

  • Certified copies

If you need us to give you certified copies of our certificates, you can request them in the same way as other certificates. If you give us the original document we will make a certified copy of it within 3 hours, between 9:00 and 19:00 from Monday to Friday. 6 certified copy sheets cost 12 euros. At present only the Temporary Degree certificate and the Accredited Degree are issued on paper so it only makes sense to do this in the case of these documents.

What documents must I present to collect the diploma?

The only document you need to collect the diploma is your ID document or passport.

Can the diploma be collected by anyone other than the student?

Yes, but that person must have a power of attorney and a photocopy of the student's ID card (Order of 8 July 1988, Official State Gazette number 167 of 13 July 1988)

What can I do if my personal information has changed or if I have lost or damaged my degree certificate?

If it is lost, damaged or if the personal information changes (nationality, order of surnames, etc.) you will have to pay the diploma fee again in order to request it from the Ministry of Education and Science and the cost of having a text published in the Official State Gazette, informing of the loss of the document. Once we receive it we will contact you so that you can come and collect it.

You can carry out this procedure through the website by selecting the option "Degree certificate duplicate".

What must I do if I need to use the documents issued by the UEM abroad?

In this case you should request the legalization of each document that you need to use abroad. The procedure varies, depending on the country in which the documents are to be used. For this reason the University only carries out the first step, i.e. the notarized legitimization of the signature on the documents.

In this case the documents you want to legalize will be issued on paper. It costs 12 euros to legalize one document.

How should I legalize an official document?

To legalize a document issued by Universidad Europea de Madrid it must bear the original signature of the persons signing it. You should contact Student Affairs and they will put you in touch with a notary public so that you can legalize the document. You can also request it through this link: http://www.uem.es/alumno-uem/secretaria.

What should I do if I don't want to continue at the university next year and I am charged the university place reservation fee?

The university place reservation fee is paid every year by direct debit in the designated bank account on June 1 of each academic year. Students not wanting to continue their studies at UEM should notify this in writing before 20 May. Students who will be completing their studies (i.e. who are enrolled for all the necessary credits to complete their degree program) in the current academic year will not be charged that fee. This amount will not be refunded if you fail to notify that you are not continuing or leaving within that term or if you do so after the set date.

To notify a "non-continuation of studies" or a "cancellation" you should use an online application. A scanned copy of the student's I.D. must be attached. If you cannot scan it, we will do it for you in the Student Affairs area. Bear in mind that if you make a cancellation your transcript will be cancelled immediately, whereas if you state "no continuation" your transcript will be cancelled as soon as you complete your current year and you can therefore attend the second exam period. If you ask for the non-continuation of studies and subsequently ask to resume them, you will have to pay 150 euros to register again.
